Videos Needed: Anti Drink-Drive Competition
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls gather round and prepare to be amazed. I have here in my right hand, a piece of paper. “So what?” I here you cry, “A piece of paper isn’t amazing!” You are certainly correct in that respect, a piece of paper is not amazing, but what is amazing is what’s written on the paper. Ladies and gentlemen, I have here a challenge, a competition if you will. It is a chance… to be… a hero (the cape is optional).
How so?
Well let me explain. As the nights draw in, as the breath gets foggy and the nose gets runny, people can lose their heads. Not literally. Well sometimes they do but let’s not dwell on such gruesome thoughts. As we cavort towards the festive season and as the Christmas parties start to pile up, incidents of drink-driving start to rocket. Why? Nobody knows why normal, sensible people do such a silly and dangerous thing.
But you can make a difference. Road Safety Wales needs you, yes you, to help stop it. How? By making a video, a brilliant video to promote the anti drink-driving message. It can be anything you want, such as
- An animation
- A music video
- A documentary
- A debate
- A sketch
- A dance
- Or a drama
Pretty much any genre you can think or but there are a couple of rules. It has to be less than three minutes long and contain no more than six people, so no epic X-Factor style choirs please people. The competition is for people aged 11-25. And you’re gonna have to be quick as the deadline in November 2nd.
As well as the whole feeling good about saving lives and being a hero thing, there’s also some dough involved as well. You can win £100 for your school or organisation if you win the Cardiff heats, then a further £500 and other prizes for winning the South Wales regional competition. Chuck in a free trip to Caernarfon for the All Wales Drink Drive launch in December and you got yourself a tidy little package.
