On Friday July 15th I met a friend in Birmingham for the day and we had a great time looking at the Staffordshire Hoard, part of a huge gold, silver find of pieces from the Anglo Saxon times, found in a farmers field by a metal detectorist in July 2009. It was an amazing collection of artifacts mainly military and some are set with garnets.

There are parts of the 'Hoard' now on tour around the Midlands in Lichfield Cathedral, Tamworth Castle and somewhere else but can’t remember where!

Later we went on the 'BBC Midlands @ the Mailbox' and saw an old Dalek from Dr. Who, plus the Tardis.  My friend got to read the weather, we saw where all the programmes are recorded and lots more.

We also went to the world famous Rag Market and the ancient church of St Martin in the bull ring.

We had a great day and my friend went back to Essex and me home to Walsall.
