Hello Seems To Be The Hardest Word
Hello. It’s short, simple and to the point. We say it all the time without giving a second thought as to the impact it may have. Well, World Hello Day aims to celebrate this little word and make it more than just a greeting. The 39th annual World Hello Day will be held on the 21st November 2011, and demonstrates the importance of personal communication in maintaining and defending peace in our world.
World Hello Day began in response to the conflict that was taking place between Egypt and Israel during the autumn of 1973. Since then, World Hello Day has been observed by people in 180 countries. Anyone can participate; all you need to do is simple say hello to ten people. The idea is, that the more we say hello to each other, the more we can convince world leaders to use talking and understanding to settle conflicts without the need to use force or go to war.
Many famous people have written letters to the two brothers who started World Hello Day; Brian and Michael McCormack, to offer their support in their cause. Actress Whoopi Goldberg, former American President Bill Clinton and even our own Queen Elizabeth have voiced their admiration of the day and its meaning.
So, if you want to play your part in helping to promote world peace as well as brightening up someone’s day, just say hello.
