Wow. What an amazing experience. Never thought I could have got over my fear of heights, and climbing!

A 'tree-top adventure' would be the best way to describe Go Ape. It involves tree-top high wires, tricky crossings (using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire) and wind-in-your-face zip wires; finishing with the Tarzan drop! The experience is exhilarating and fun.

The day started off with the Swoosh Editorial Group heading off on a swift 45 minute mini-bus journey to Margam Park. Margam Park is a beautiful place filled with idyllic scenery. We started briefly with the 30 minute 'training session' just to become familiar with the safety wires and rules that are to be followed whilst being up in trees.

Go Ape in Margam Park is known for having the 'biggest drop' the drop consists of swinging from a rope and into the 'Tarzan' cargo rope wall. This was most definitely the most enjoyable part of the adventure!

Here are a few details of what to expect from the Go Ape in Margam Park...

Margam Country Park

  • Number of sections: 5
  • Longest Zip Wire: 167 metres
  • Longest Crossing: 18.5 metres
  • Total Length: 744 metres
  • Number of Crossings: 39
  • Highest Point: 13 metres

I loved every minute of my Go Ape adventure, from the 'Tarzan swing' to the complex crossings! I would certainly recommend this activity to anyone up for a new challenge. It's a good way to get to know you're friends or group much more, and also to build trusting relationships - being so high up above the ground instructions must be followed - just to avoid falling out of the trees!! :)

Once again I had a lovely day with my 'swoooooshies'!!!
