FILM REVIEW: Toy Story 3
Genre: Comedy, Animation, Adventure
Certificate: U
After the eleven month wait, Pixar has finally released Toy Story 3. I was lucky enough to go to an almost sold out cinema recently, and I'm so glad I did.
So, I was expecting the cinema to full of little toddlers, as that was the age group Toy Story is aimed in the first place (I was actually quite embarrassed at how eager I was to see this film considering my age!!), but there was more people aged between 13 and their 20's than I could believe. Seems that we all have a little three year old inside of us just dying to get out!
Finally it was time... we all put on our 3D glasses, sat back, and got ready for the film experience ahead. From start to finish i could not keep my eyes off the screen, and neither could anyone else. I laughed, I cried, and I even found myself wanting to play with all my old toys again as soon as I got home.
There are new characters, characters that weren't there from the first two films and everyone's old favourites Woody and Buzz. We even got to see some of Molly's (Andy's little sister) toys.
The film begins with the toys having been donated to Sunnyside day care, as Molly and Andy were now too old for toys. The toys from the butterfly room had put the new toys in the caterpillar room (the room every toy dreads to ever enter), and Buzz wanted out. Buzz wanted to be played with, not thrown about and eaten! He decided he would go and speak to Lotso (kind of the boss of all the toys at Sunnyside) to speak to him about having him and his friends put in the butterfly room.
Lotso is okay with just Buzz moving, but not anyone else. Buzz wasn't happy, he wanted everyone to be welcome. This disagreement meant poor Buzz was sent packing back to his Caterpillar Room. Buzz then takes on a guard kind of role, as if the toys were in prison for wanting to be in a better place, but then as usual, Woody comes up with a plan to save the day.
Part of this plan involves turning Buzz back to the old him. The toys got hold of his instruction manual, and found out what they had to do... 'flick the switch from play to demo, and press the button underneath'. But after reading this, they found out that you shouldn't hold the button for more than five seconds!
Well at this point, laughter filled the cinema! We found out if you hold this button for more than five seconds... You can then say hello (or maybe hola would be better) to the Spanish Buzz Lightyear!! He spoke Spanish, and even did Spanish dancing with Jesse, I couldn't stop myself from laughing, this was definitely the highlight of the film for me.
So does Woody officially save the day? Do they Make it out of the Caterpillar Room? What becomes of Buzz Lightyear? You'll just have to watch it and find out!
It's a great entertainment, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It doesn't matter what age you are, you're bound to enjoy this film.
