FILM REVIEW |

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, Tyrese Gibson

Directed By: Michael Bay

Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Certificate: 12a

This is the third movie in the franchise, The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and to learn its secrets.

For me this movie is amazing and worth going to see, even though they got rid of Megan fox it’s alright because you have Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Just to clarify some things, she’s not playing the character Megan was playing she's an entirely new character. They Also throw in some sly digs at Megan during the film but also praise her at a certain time. It’s quite funny the way they do this. I don't know if it was just me, but I under the impression that before the movie was released they were advertising it as Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon but while watching the movie it had changed to Dark of the Moon.

Even though this film has better affects than its predecessors and has a lot more characters and story-lines, for me it lacked characterization. For the Autobots they have some amazing new characters but you don't get to see their full potential of their personal traits. You can't feel for them because even though they might be in the scene, it’s like they're props, they spent most of the time trying to justify Rosie Huntington-Whiteley character Carly Spencer and why she’s there. This movie introduces the humans involvement with the Decepticons and it elaborates on Transformers Home world with a bit more detail.

Don't get me wrong the film is worth going to see but that’s just my personal view. They have so many story lines to use for the fourth movie, and more characters to use now that Shia LaBeouf has not signed up for the fourth franchise.

4 out of 5 rating

"it misses that one point just because it lacks characterization and connection"

I don't know if It's as good without Megan Fox. She kind of is the Transformers series. Rosie's from my home town, so I guess she should be congratulated on making it in Hollywood!

I thought this film was alright. There were loads of effects and explosions but really that was it. The story line was very thin and the newer characters were not developed enough to make you care about them. I enjoyed the conclusion of John Malkovich and Ken Jeong although i felt they did not need to be included. They didn't add much to the story and i think they were just added to make the film seem bigger and more flashy. But overall it was a decent summer blockbuster film. Funny to watch with mates if your not taking it seriously cos you can just joke about it whilst watching.

Got something to say?
