Dish Out Dosh Vale needs a Youth Panel!
The Vale Volunteer Bureau is looking for volunteers age 14-25 years old, from the Vale of Glamorgan, to work as part of a team of young people to form a panel of decision makers who will be responsible for Dishing Out Dosh in the Vale of Glamorgan.
You will be trained and supported to make decisions on funding applications from local youth led projects that want to put their volunteering ideas in to action, to benefit the local community. The panel (that’s you!) have the ultimate say in which projects get funding and how much money they get!
-The panel will decide how projects apply for money, and will design and develop the application procedures
-You will be involved in setting the criteria by which the applications are judged and in assessing which applications meet your criteria, and which get priority
-The panel will be involved in the marketing and promotion of the project, including designing materials to publicise the grants, and giving information to interested groups who might want to apply.
-There will be the chance to visit the projects to see them in action and see their outcomes
Skills required: Ability to work as part of a team. Good communication and listening skills. A non-judgemental attitude. Ability to understand issues around confidentiality and equal opportunities.
Responsible to: Rachel Oldman, Youth Volunteering Officer
Venue: Most meetings are based at the Vale Volunteer Bureau, 34 Holton Road, Barry. Other venues may occasionally be used.
Times required: This opportunity is spread over a timescale of approximately 7 months, but you will only be required for approximately 2 half days per month, to fit in with when the panel (that’s you!) are available. There are additional opportunities within this project if you wish to be more involved. Within this time frame you will be invited to attend an initial panel meeting and induction, a training day and panel meetings as required, and as the panel feel is necessary. There will then be a decision making session, and award of money event. It will be up to the panel if any further events etc are planned.
Procedure: Please request and fill in our application form if you are interested. You will be invited to an information session to find out more about this role - this is a chance to find out exactly what is involved and ask questions. We will ask you to provide the names and addresses of 2 people that you know well, who can provide a reference for you – these can be from anyone who is not a family member and we can help you think of people to do this for you.
You will be given full training, support and supervision to undertake this opportunity.
Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
This can count towards the MILLENNIUM VOLUNTEERS award- we can sign you up if you are not already registered!
