This summer Swoosh was been down at the Boards n Beats event in Bryn Y Don Skate Park, Dinas Powys. Some would have thought this day was going to be a rain wash out..... Not this time Mr. Rain Cloud. All the water dried up just in time to get the event kick started.

Boards n Beats is a skate music fest organised every year by the Vale Youth Street Team (V-POD and PULSE). This is the events 1st Birthday, as well as the Street Team’s 1st year too. So lots to be proud of!  The event brought together loads of you and lots of local organisations like Vibe Experience, Youth Service, Duke of Edinburgh and the amazing pro skaters – Team Extreme! The event was also sponsored by skate shop Two Seasons.

Throughout the day about 100 of you turned out on BMX’s, Skateboards, Skates, Scooters and more of you on foot just to watch and enjoy! No matter the age or ability it was really wicked to see everyone having a go, cheering each other on, sharing skills and tricks, as well as then pulling all stops out to compete against one another. There were a number of competitions on the park for best on: Skateboard; BMX; Skates; and Scooters. The winners were awarded some pretty cool prizes kindly donated by Two Seasons and the Team Extreme guys. There was even a raffle (LOL) we like to call it Prize Draw! A back pack full of freebies and it didn’t stop there... It was freebies galore... T-shirts, knee pads, elbow pads.. Oh Yeah and free BBQ – i made sure i had my hot dog!!! So if you missed Boards n Beats this year you missed out!!

We took some pics throughout the day and posted live on our Facebook ‘swooshvale’. Last year the V-POD put together some pretty sick clips of all your favourite stunts and tricks too. So I’m sure the Street Team will have some very cool pictures or video to treat you to again.

Also if you are interested in getting involved in these events the Vale Youth Street Team are setting up Youth Skate Committee. If so please contact Rhys of the Pulse Detached Team: rhejones@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Or even if you are interested in learning how to film and edit your own urban film or stunts and tricks. Vibe Experience is happy to help!! You just need to contact Bazz: bazz@vibeexperience.com

He is looking to help you create your own films and put them live online websites like swoosh, YouTube and Facebook.
