  • An Adventure with a Welsh Dragon

Once upon a time, long ago, in a kingdom far, far away,  lived a Princess. Her name was Seren the star of Once-upon-a-time (Which was the kingdom they lived in.) She hated being a Princess and wanted to go exploring the world. But the problem was she was always locked in the Palace and was only allowed in and around the palace. She told her Father that she hated being a Princess and that she wanted to go exploring the world instead of being in a lush palace. Her father took this the wrong way and dragged her into the garden by the ear. He told her never to say that again and to be grateful for once. Seren was very upset about this and took a stroll in the forest. Out of no-where she heard a girly scream. “Help me! Help me!” it said in a more dramatic tone the second time. As Seren was an explorer (or wanted to be) she went to see what the problem was. She came out of the heart of the forest and was now on the border when she met the surprise of her life.
Ahead of her was a giant red dragon with a prince in its hand. “Help me, Help me!” The prince screamed again. “Be quiet or someone will hear us!” The red dragon replied. Seren ripped the edge of her skirt so it was easier to move in. With one hand on the floor and the other up in the air she crouched down and charged at the Dragon.

She didn’t scream as she ran because 1. It gives away your coming and 2. You waste precious breath that you could be using to fight. She leapt onto the dragon’s tail but the dragon flicked his tail and she flew into the air. She grabbed him by the nostrils so her body was in-between his ears and held on tightly. Seren scrambled onto her feet and stood on his nose and faced the dragon. “Bore da Mr. Draig Goch. What may you be doing this fine morning? I haven’t seen you in ages! I remember those days, when you were always visiting us always coming to claim another victim. How are you my old buddy?”
“I’m doing brilliant my fine Seren and you? You’ve been doing anything fun lately anything at all? I was just um…um…yeah…um…giving this nice chap a ride…yes that’s it! I was giving him a ride…”
“Draig? I know what you were doing and I thought I told you no!”
“Miss? But they’re so sweet and crunchy!”
“Draig I told you no so no. Now put this nice chap on your nose too. Go on.” Reluctantly he picked the prince up by his nails with three fingers up (as if the prince was a dirty creature) and dropped him on his nose. He shuddered as the prince brushed the invisible dirt off. “Thankyou.” The prince said very quietly. “Its O.K Mr.…?”
“Llewelyn.” He cut in “Llewelyn Evans, I’m the prince of Twice-upon-a-time but just call me Llewelyn.”
“Well it’s lovely to meet you Llewelyn.” She then turned to Draig Goch and said
“Draig? Would you carry us down to the beach? Please it would be lovely to spend the day down there.”
“Well I suppose.” He sulked and went on all fours. As he did this Llewelyn fell off Draigs nose.

Seren hurriedly jumped off after Llewelyn and grabbed onto one of the dragons chin hairs. She slid down it and grabbed Llewelyn by the foot. “You need to work on your balance mate.” And threw him into the air. Draigs tongue popped out to catch him and waved his tongue up, so he flew up into the air again. Draig moved forwards and Llewelyn landed on the dragon’s nose. He did the same for Seren but she did it a bit more gracefully and she wasn’t screaming as it happened.
When they were safely on Draigs head holding onto his ears he plodded down to the beach and sat down heavily. They slid down his back and Llewelyn face-planted into the sand. Seren stepped over him and picked up a stick and reached for a blade of grass, found a worm and started fishing. She caught two fish one for her and one for Llewelyn and sat down. Draig had just picked a whale out of the sea and was roasting it slowly. “Draig? Do us a favour will you?” Draig knew instantly what to do and breathed on the fish. “Thanks!”
He snorted. They ate and played at the beach all day, until Seren finally said, “Can I run away with you Draig? It’s not that I don’t like my parents but I want to be an explorer! And travel round the world, You know Draig you could really help. We could leave Once-upon-a-time and continue our journey. Are you in for it?”
“You bet I am!” Llewelyn said.
“Draig what about you?”
“Well O.K as you’re my buddies.” He grabbed the Prince and shoved him under his arm. He rubbed his hand back and forth on his head and he burnt a bold patch on his head. “Whoops.” Llewelyn’s head was on fire so he stuck it in the sand. Seren helped Llewelyn up onto the dragon’s back and they flew back to the castle. There (secretly) Seren took all her allowance and all the vital things including blankets food pillows, food (and all the essentials needed). They also went to Llewelyn’s house and grabbed just the same things. They flew away and a few years later Seren and Llewelyn got married and they all lived happily ever after. THE END
