Young Person’s Guide to Emergencies

Although we hope it would never happen, there may come a time when you are involved in an emergency. This is a situation that puts your health, life, home or the area around you at risk or danger. These can include:

  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Extreme weather

Here is some information on what to do if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation.

What should I do in an emergency?

  • Stay calm
  • Get yourself to safety
  • Call 999 if you need help from the Emergency Services
  • Let friends and family know where you are
  • Go to a Rest Centre 5(Click on this to see the information below) if there is one set up
  • If possible, keep your Mobile phone with you
  • Evacuate your house 7 if you need to, or are asked to by the Emergency Services
  • Think about your pets

There are also lots of things you can do to make sure you are ready before there is an emergency.
