- In an emergency, dial 999 or 112 from any phone and tell the operator which service you need – police, fire brigade or ambulance. They will send immediate help

- For medical emergencies, hospitals have a 24-hour Accident and Emergency (A&E) department. The number for your local A&E can be found in Yellow Pages, telephone directory services or at www.yell.com.
- Knowledge of first aid can help in the event of an accident or medical emergency, such as a fit, an asthma attack or a drug overdose, while you wait for an ambulance
- First aid courses are run throughout Wales and can help you save lives
- If you find yourself in an emergency situation, try and stay calm and find help as soon as possible. Any first aid knowledge will also help if there is a medical problem
