Education
Every day you learn something new. Your education starts from the moment you are born and carries on for the rest of your life. Education is important in order to find a job and access a whole range of opportunities. It is never too late to start learning, to sign up for a course and add to your knowledge.
Most people relate education to being in school; this is full-time compulsory education by law for all children and young people aged between 5 and 16. The leaving age for compulsory education was raised to 18 by the government in 2008. The change will take place in 2013 for 17 year-olds and 2015 for 18 year-olds.
At the moment, at 16 you can choose to continue to study for a further two years in sixth form or a local college studying A-levels or other qualifications such as the International Baccalaureate and BTECs.
This section tells you about your options and looks at some of the issues and problems you might come across while getting your education. Click on the various articles in this section to find out more or click on the link to Careers Wales as a good starting point when deciding on your future.
