VYST | Phase 2, Bassett Park Art Project!
Back in the winter of 2010, the young people in the Bassett Park area took part in the regeneration of their local park, which included the designing and planning of the park. With the help of the V-POD they used the multimedia equipment and resources to search for new play equipment and sports facilities. The park was then closed for a few weeks whilst the hard work began! During the time the park was closed, the young people made the decision that they would like to create an art wall in the park; the Vale Youth Street Team liaised with the Council Park Department and when the park reopened, phase 1 of the work took place.
The young people all worked very hard as a team and over a week in the summer holidays they created a work of art for the whole community to enjoy. The Vale Youth Street Team are back and want to start phase 2 which is all about the younger members that use the park. Zoe from the V.Y.S.T said “we want all members of the community to get involved, mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles, any young people aged 6+ and also the group of teenagers that helped out last time”.
The project is due to begin in the February half term starting Monday 13th and due to finish Friday 17th and will be running between 10am and 6pm every day. So if you want to be creative and join the team making the park a better place for the whole community, come on down and get involved. It’s all about community team spirit and making the area better for all!
