Room 102 Garden Project - Rhoose
The young people of Room 102 decided that they would like to raise funds to turn the garden at Rhoose Community Centre, in to an outside area that everybody that uses the community centre could use and benefit from.
Young people and staff got together and discussed how we could best utilise the space, the pictures show the beginning of our project and we will update you with any progress. It was decided that we wanted a BBQ, benches, plants, flowers and a vegetable patch. This was decided because in the summer everybody that use the community centre could have BBQ's and it would help bring our community together. We also decided on growing vegetables because the local community could also benefit from the fresh produce.
We started to write to local businesses explaining our plans and asking for any funding available. We were lucky enough to get support from Dow Corning and Waitrose to allow us to buy all of the equipment needed for the project and some of the young people attended Waitrose for a presentation of a cheque for the value of £320 towards our garden project.
As soon as the lighter nights start coming in and the weather improves we will be going full steam ahead, so watch out for our updates.
