“Tell you what, if that old woman down the street starts ranting about the weeds in my garden again. I swear - ” “- what’s happened now?” Typical Ron thought. He would walk home to his mother whining about Janet Capulet down the road. She was a harmless old woman, he’d never seen her do anything before; but his mother, oh that was a totally different story! Turns out it started in school, Mrs. Capulet was his mother’s Biology teacher, and boy didn’t they get off to a great start! Mrs. Capulet wanted a seating plan in her room, and unfortunately for Mrs. Montague (Sarah James at the time) she was sat next to the most arrogant, big headed twit in the whole of year seven. Sarah, being the opinionated eleven year old she was, didn’t have much of a problem confronting the teacher in front of the whole class; and so the never ending conflict grew from there.
“That miserable, old, hag! You know what, I’m not even going to bother...” and this was usually the point where Ron blanked out and went to his room – so he did, and left his mother to ramble on to his very uninterested father (the football was on, she wasn’t going to get anything out of him).

Rosey was all Ron could think about lately; he missed the smell of her hair, the feel of her fingers between his, the way she fit into his arms to perfectly – but all that was gone now. He slowly scanned his room, every item in there bringing back a memory; Elf was still left by the DVD player (Rosey’s favourite film), the teddy she bought him for his birthday was still sat at the end of his bed, even tiny things, like the rip in the curtain reminded him, simply because he did it when they were together. As Ron dragged his feet over to the DVD player to put Elf away, he came across the invite “You have been invited to Charlie Brown’s birthday party! It all starts at 6:30pm on Saturday 24th July and finishes late in 36 Victoria place – see you there, Charlie”; that was this Saturday, and it was Thursday already! He’d spent so long moping around the house about Rosey that he totally forgot about the party – he didn’t even know if he had clothes to wear, but never mind the clothes, this party was the perfect chance to really try and get over Rosey. Whether that was chilling with the guys for a bit, finding another pretty girl, or showing Rosey he could have a good time without her; or all three (she had already moved on – it was that ignorant, idiotic pig, Peter Paris), it was still the perfect opportunity. With a strangely familiar feeling of happiness stretching its way across the whole of Ron’s body, he made his way towards the wardrobe to see what he already had to wear.
“Don’t be long Jazz, we’ll meet you at the library for half four, sound good?”
“Sounds great” Jazz shouted back as she sprinted up the stairs. She went straight to her room whilst calling to her grandmother to say she was going out for a bit. There were clean clothes out already, so Jazz just threw them on, quickly redid her make up and put the brush through her hair again before leaving with her purse in tow. It wasn’t long before she met up with Sophie and Carys outside the library, so they headed for the nearest clothes shop.
“... he’s so sweet and understanding.” Jazz and Sophie just looked at each and pretended they were throwing up; Carys was on about Shaun again, yet another one of her many boyfriends. She always loves them so much, and then two weeks later she’s with someone else, who she always loves so much. The other two just laughed at her, but deep down Jazz knew she envied Carys and Sophie slightly. Sophie had been with the same boy for the past three years, so now Toby was kind of part of the gang, and Sophie and Toby had never really been the mushy type; but Jazz, Jazz had only had two boyfriends before, and she would be seventeen by the time the year was out – no wonder her grandmother was so eager for her to get with someone quick. Maybe it would be nice to have someone to cuddle up to once in a while.

After franticly running around six shops trying to find hundreds of dresses in different sizes and colours with a pair of killer heels to match, Jazz finally walked out of the changing room with the perfect one on. With a tight black skirt on the bottom and a red strapless top, it complimented her figure amazingly
“I’ll go find some red courts to go with that chicken, a five yeah?”
“... Y-yeah, oh yeah, a five’s great” Jazz had never worn a short dress like this before, but she felt and looked great! “I love it!”
“I love it on you! The boys won’t be able to keep their hands off tomorrow night! Someone’s nan will be pleased lol!” exclaimed Carys. Sophie was still off looking for shoes, but Carys had already got her phone out of her bag
“C’mon, budge over, let me get mine on, then we’re having pictures! Hurry up Soph, I want you in these too!” Carys was calling when she saw Sophie running round the corner with the most amazing red high heels ever in her hand
“Lemme get mine on befo – I hate you sometimes” Sophie moaned just after the flash of Carys’ phone, and when she shoved it in Sophie’s face, and all three girls burst out into fits of laughter.
“Hurry up Ron, it’s 25 past already ‘ya twit! People are there already, I can see ‘em all going in!” oh don’t you just love your best friends. The boys had been at Ron’s for the last hour now, they were having a bit of munch just before the party started; you never know how good the food’s going to be until you get there
“Yeah, whatever, I’m coming now” he was determined to have a good time tonight, no more sulking for Ron!
“Any decent girls going tonight?” it would be George asking that
“Sophie’s definitely going, a few of the girls were getting ready down Jazz’s earlier, and Carys and Jazz went shopping with Sophie yesterday for new clothes to go”
“There’s Toby gone for the night then, what room you two taking, we’ll be make sure Ron and Rose – ohh, totally forgot, sorry dude. You don’t need a girl like her anyway” everyone was quiet for a while after that. You could tell it stung by the sour look that shot right across Ron’s features.
“You know what, don’t worry about it Gar. Hey, Toby, you said Jazz was coming tonight, she’s single right?” Ron eventually managed through a false grin. He got a cheer off the boys for that one, and yeah Jazz was pretty, but he’d never spoken to her before. Anyway, he’d heard Rosey’s name now, turns out even that was enough to put him down for night. Looks like there’s gonna be a bit sulking for Ron now.
“He’s an absolute -”
“Car and Shaun split up already then? Aww, don’t worry about it Carys, by the end of tonight you’ll be ‘in love’ again” Toby teased as he slipped his arm around Sophie
“Shut it you!”
Jazz couldn’t help but giggle a little bit. Carys and Toby were always arguing, even though they stuck by each other like brother and sister
“Hey, that Ron Montague is looking at you Jazzy” whispered Emma. Jazz had been so carried away watching yet another of Carys and Toby’s endless squabbles for the past ten minutes that she didn’t even notice Ron Montague’s sparkling blue eyes boring into her. As soon as she looked he looked away quickly and started grinning at Carys and Toby, who were still going at it

“Erm, let’s go inside? It’s nearly 20 to now and Charlie might be wondering where we are” Jazz wasn’t used to boys staring at her before, especially ones like Ron Montague. She’d never really noticed it before, but he has the most amazing blue eyes.
She wasn’t just pretty, she was gorgeous! The way her smile lit up her whole face and everyone else’s surrounding her was just outstanding!
“Mind if I go in with you, I was too busy watching Toby and Carys so the boys went without me”
Ron was shocked at the confidence in his own voice. He felt more comfortable in these first five minutes small talking with Jazz than he ever did the whole eight months he was actually with Rosey! What a waste that turned out to be
“I don’t see why not” Jazz couldn’t get this ridiculous smile off her face. What was it about this boy?! “Sophie, we’re going in, wanna leave your lover boy and Carys to deal with it? They’ll be best buddies again in a bit?” she called over her shoulder as she saw Sophie’s now very interested gaze following her and Ron through the door. “Ahh, Carys and Toby crack me up”
“Haha, I’ve never seen him around Soph’s friends”
“I suppose in a way you’re lucky, what’s going outside is all we ever have” This girl seemed just as confident talking to Ron as he did to her, “I love this song!” just what they needed to get this party going, a bit of Eric Unseen – perfect!
“They’re great” was this really happening, after eight months of trying to get Rosey to listen to Eric Unseen, it only takes about ten minutes to find out Jazz loves them. This just keeps getting better and better!
No way, Jazz had been trying to get the girls to listen to Eric Unseen for ages, but after about ten minutes of talking to the boy who only lived up the road she finds out he’s probably always listened to them! “Wanna dance?” and this question brought it totally down hill for Jazz
“Oh, I uh um, well, uh -“
“Don’t dance? Good, I was hoping you’d say no” smiled a rather relieved Ron. Rosey was obsessed with dance, it was all she ever nattered on about. So, it had only been about week since he was devastated about the whole Rosey thing, but maybe that was unnecessary; he was really starting to like this Jazz girl, and in just minutes of talking to her properly – weird. And then she flashed that brilliant smile again, he was definitely starting to like her.

Jazz couldn’t believe it! Boys never talked to her, and whenever they did there was never much in common; but Ron, he was just – wow! He had great taste in music, he hated dancing, he only lived up the road, and those eyes; those sparkling pools of blue, she’d never seen anything so breath taking. And she’d only been speaking to him properly 20 minutes?! Maybe this could be leading on to something...
“You got any idea where the food is?” Crap. She hadn’t meant for that to slip out! Everyone knew Ron’s ex was dating that ignorant, idiot pig, Peter Paris now, so wasn’t it obvious Ron was into little skinny girls who eat like one cracker every week. Great
“Glad you asked, my belly’s getting a bit rumbly lol” A girl with an appetite, yes! Rosey used to starve herself, and the panic Ron would put himself through could have been unhealthy at times. Why did he waste so much time on Rosey when this beauty was living literally a few seconds away?! He couldn’t believe he was thinking it, I mean, after all, it still hadn’t been a whole week since Rosey left him, and he had only been speaking to this girl for about 20 minutes; but she seemed perfect...

“Ahh, I’ve found a stupidly long line of people. Either for the food or the toilet lol. Wanna go over and see anyway?” This was going just right, maybe it was too good... but Jazz wasn’t going to think like that now was she? I mean, I know it sounds a bit silly and naive, she’d only been speaking to Ron properly for about 20 minutes; but he seemed perfect.
“FOOD!” He sprinted off to the table like a child, which got Jazz laughing. He seemed like so much fun.
Her laugh was the cutest, he could listen to it for hours on end. “Plate?” Ron mumbled through half a ham sandwich. She took it with a shy smile spreading across her cheeks and started to pile the junk onto her plate. Oooh, mini éclairs, Jazz thought as her eyes widened with a bit of excitement, and reached for one...
Oooh, mini éclairs, Ron thought as his eyes widened with a bit of excitement, and reached for one...
“Sorry!” Jazz rushed as her hand brushed the top of Ron’s. She didn’t move it though, she liked the strange tingling sensation she got as their skin touched.
Their eyes locked for a moment, bright blue and green staring at each other until
“No need, you have it. Wanna go in front?” Ron smiled. He reached out behind Jazz and gave her an encouraging nudge forward, he didn’t move his arm from her waist as she moved in front of him, and was tempted to keep it there when she got in front of him. His hand fit in the place above her hip as if it were the missing piece from the jigsaw puzzle – the perfect fit.

Why did he have to take his hand off Jazz thought? It seemed to fit just right.
“It’s looking pretty crowded in here, wanna go outside?” Ron’s warm breath made the top of Jazz’s ear tingle, but she just nodded feebly to reply. So he took her hand to guide her through the crowd, through the kitchen and out the back door
“There’s a bench by there” Jazz pointed as they got out outside. Ron went first, and they made their way over to the old wooden bench, and shyly lowered themselves down and placed their food on their lap.
“ERR! There’s garlic in this” squealed Ron. Damn it! He couldn’t believe he just did that in front of a girl he thought he was falling for, but instead of giving him a funny look, she burst out into laughter, showing off that beautiful smile in the sun.
“You make me giggle fair play” Jazz whimpered through her laughter. This boy was brilliant, she could easily sit with him for hours on end and never get bored.
Rosey would have gone nuts if Ron done something like this, but not Jazz. This girl was brilliant. He could easily sit with her for hours on end and never get bored. “Note to self, never give Ron garlic – EVER!” and she started laughing again
“Hey lol” Ron teased “It’s gross, c’mon, there’s gotta be something that makes you do the same thing?”
“I’m allergic to nuts if that helps?”
“Fair enough I guess. Do you watch X Factor...?”
“No way, it’s gotten pretty pointless now lol” This girl really was perfect.
After about half an hour of talking the two felt like they had been best friends their whole life. As the sun started to set it started to get a Jazz didn’t have a jacket. They continued talking as the temperature continued to drop and the night to get darker.
“You’re shivering...” Ron noticed before Jazz did
“Hehe, yeah, it’s getting a bit nippy out here actually” Ron could see her wrapping her arms round herself to warm up, but he wanted to do something
“Come here Jazz” so he reached his arm around her and pulled her in close. He could of sworn he heard her mumble thanks, but that last time her was sat like this with a girl he was with Rosey, and he could remember exactly what came next...
Jazz had seen it in all the movies, she knew exactly wh -
“Jazz” Jazz looked up at the sound of her name, and in the instant that her’s and Ron’s eyes caught each other, their head started moving closer together. It was as if the whole thing had been choreographed. His hand slowly moved down to the bottom of her back and slowly pulled her in, whilst her arms made their way around his neck to bring their faces closer together; and then it happened. The perfect moment of soft pink flesh, crushing on soft pink flesh. That tingling feeling that shot through both of them the moment their lips met; and the shy smiles they shared afterwards before moving in for another.

Ron and Jazz’s first kiss under the stars; everything was perfect.
